Research

Three projects across computational biology, AI in medicine, and quantum computing.

Flu virus and the JAK2-STAT3 pathway

Research Assistant

Summer 2026 to now
Texas Christian University, Dobrovolny Lab
  • Building a mathematical model of influenza infection that includes the JAK2-STAT3 pathway, written in Python.
  • Reading and analyzing papers on how flu causes disease, antiviral drugs, and the body's immune signaling.
  • Helping with study design, data collection, and analysis.
  • Writing a research paper on the methods and findings, and selected to present the work.
  • Meet with my mentor weekly and work 3 to 5 hours a week on my own.

Try it: how an antiviral changes a flu infection

Virus in the body over 8 days. Slide to block more of the virus's ability to copy itself.

-Peak virus level
-Peak day
-Drop vs. no treatment

A simplified textbook model of influenza in the body (Baccam et al., 2006), shown for illustration. My TCU project builds a more detailed model that adds the JAK2-STAT3 pathway.

Finding brain tumors in MRI scans

Independent project

10th grade
Dallas Regional Science Fair, Computational Biology
  • Compared three image recognition models (ResNet18, Inception V3, and VGG16) for sorting brain tumor types in MRI scans.
  • ResNet18 did best, at about 96% accuracy.
  • Qualified through a selection round and presented my poster to Ph.D. judges.

Quantum computing and counterfeit tickets

Research student

Summer 2026
University of Texas at Dallas
  • Learned Qiskit, IBM's quantum programming toolkit, along with Hadamard gates and vector and matrix math.
  • Worked through Harvard and Cambridge papers with Ph.D. professors to prove how quantum computing can stop counterfeit quantum tickets.
  • Moving on to study how noise changes an attacker's chance of success.
