Hi, I'm Mithreiya. I'm a senior at Richland High School in Prosper, Texas, and I want to be a doctor.
A lot of that started at Little Star Pediatrics, where I've spent more than 100 hours taking vitals and helping kids stay calm before their shots, usually by reading them a picture book. This past summer I volunteered on the medical-surgical floor at Carrollton Hospital. I saw how much care the patient care techs put into every patient, watched a PA drain a seroma, and learned to read a cath scan, where the heart's vessels look a little like willow branches.
I also really like research. At TCU I'm building a math model of how the flu virus interacts with the JAK2-STAT3 pathway, which showed me how computational biology works and let me use what I learned in AP Biology and AP Calculus. Before that, I trained computer models to find brain tumors in MRI scans for the Dallas Regional Science Fair.
My family moved from Virginia to Texas before 10th grade, and I've been at three high schools. Starting over taught me to jump into new places quickly, which is part of why I started Health Horizons and later opened a second chapter at my new school.
Patient care in pediatrics, med-surg, radiology, and the cath lab.
Using math and Python to study how viruses spread in the body.
Training image models to read MRI scans.
Health literacy, emergency preparedness, and heat-related illness.
Learning Qiskit and how quantum ideas can make things harder to fake.
Six years of violin, Tamil, and writing science stories for kids.
Tried lots of things to find what I liked: Model UN, HOSA, a STEM camp for kids, volleyball, and food drives. Finished Tamil school and earned the Seal of Biliteracy.
Started Health Horizons, began volunteering at Little Star Pediatrics, became UNICEF Club Secretary, and presented my brain tumor project at the Dallas Regional Science Fair.
Elected Red Cross Club Vice President, opened a second Health Horizons chapter, published my book, and attended HPREP and the UT Southwestern Anatomy and Physiology Camp.
Started research at TCU and UT Dallas, volunteered 120+ hours at Carrollton Hospital, and interned with the Dallas County Medical Reserve Corps.
Taking AP Physics, AP Psychology, AP Statistics, EKG, dual credit English, and orchestra while continuing my TCU research.

I've played in the school orchestra every year and earned a Superior rating, the top score, at UIL Solo and Ensemble.
I went to Tamil school on and off through several moves and earned the Seal of Biliteracy at the highest level on an essay exam graded by the Tamil government.
An abstract art piece I made was selected for the Celebrating Art anthology, placing in the top 35% of entries.
